Arthur W. Engle, Jr. of Glenview, IL

Art Engle, 87, passed peacefully on November 19, 2022. Art was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend.

Son of Arthur and Mary (Ebersole), Art was married to the love of his life Dagny (Nylen) for 66 years. Their marriage was a model of unconditional love, trust, and devotion. Together they raised 3 sons who married wonderful women: Scott and Cindy (Lanphere), Jeff and Terren (Rempe), and Mark and Lori (Walker). Art cherished his family and truly loved his 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Art's faith was demonstrated through his actions as he volunteered at church, in civic organizations and in nonprofit ministries. He made many friends and he and Dagny had close friendships that lasted for decades. The friendships they developed in a "Couples Club" they joined at Glenview Community Church in the 1960s are still active today.

He was a spirited entrepreneur, inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame at University of Illinois at Chicago.  With Dagny, they founded Association Management Center which grew to become an esteemed provider of services to nonprofit organizations. He was a visionary in the field and his company pioneered many innovations. Art's leadership, courage and humble confidence inspired others to grow and become great leaders.

Travel was something Art and Dagny loved to do together. Whether it was a flight on the Concorde, a South African safari, an extended trip in their motorcoach or a cruise with friends, they dotted the globe exploring cultures, cuisine, and taking pictures.

Art's legacy is the family and many friends who loved him. He will be remembered as a courageous man who treated others with kindness and respect.
