Bridget
O'Shea
d. May 9, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bridget 'Breda' Mary O'Shea (nee O'Brien), our beloved mother, nana, sister, and aunt, on Thursday May 9, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving daughters. She is at peace and happy that she is reunited with her beloved Billy, once again watching over their family together.
Born in County Clare, Ireland, Breda embarked on her American journey at the tender age of 17, driven by dreams and an indomitable spirit. Her life was a testament to strength, independence, and the importance of family. In 1965, she married the love of her life, Billy, in Detroit, Michigan, and together they shared a long, loving partnership until his passing in 2020. Their union was marked by mutual respect and devotion, as they co-owned several businesses throughout their lives.
A woman of many passions, Breda was known for her love of bargain shopping, her voracious appetite for reading, and her deep appreciation for music. Every spring, she would plant and hang hundreds of flowers, transforming her garden into a vibrant tapestry of colors. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending her afternoons on the patio, sipping her cup of tea, delighting in the sounds of birds, the beauty of nature, and the colorful blooms she so lovingly nurtured.
However, it was her 8 grandchildren who held the most special place in her heart. She immensely enjoyed being a Nana and watching them grow into the individuals they are today, relishing the time spent with each of them. Her only regret was that her time was cut short, and she would not be able to see her grandchildren achieve their dreams. But she knew they were set as she instilled in them the values of family, strength and independence, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and love. Her spirit will forever remain a guiding light for all who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her three daughters: Colleen (Rob) Werner, Sheilah (Tom) Donahue III and Deirdre (Dana) Shiery and her cherished grandchildren: Ava, Grace, Clare, Zoe, Shea, Liam, Tommy and Sadie. She also leaves behind her siblings and their families, George O' Brien, Patsy Barron and Anne Ryan along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her spouse William O'Shea, parents, Patrick J O'Brien and Sarah Morrissey, brother Benny O'Brien, and her Aunt and Uncle who sponsored Breda to come to America to achieve her dreams, Jackie and Eileen O'Brien.
Breda's life was a remarkable journey, from the shores of Ireland to the heart of her family in America. Her memory and indomitable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. A private family service celebrating her life and legacy will be held at a later time.
