Carol Ann Carrier McBride of Palatine, Illinois

September 13, 1937 – October 20, 2022

Carol McBride, 85, passed on Thursday, October 20 ^th due to complications of Covid pneumonia, surrounded by her loving family.  Carol was born on September 13, 1937 in Cincinnati Ohio.  She grew up living next door to her cousin, Jack, who was her best friend. She would have so much fun telling stories of their childhood antics.  Some of her fondest childhood memories were of the times she spent travelling with her grandmother.  Carol graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.  After graduation she spent some time in Baltimore before settling in Palatine, Illinois.  She reentered the workforce after her children were in school and rapidly rose the ranks into management for an electronics company and subsequently FTD.

Carol was extremely proud of her family and played the role of reporter keeping everyone informed.  This extended far beyond her children and grandchildren as she kept herself aware of her nieces, nephews, and children's friends as well.  You could always count on Carol for knowing exactly where someone was and what they were up to. In recent years she was enthralled with her only great-grandchild, Remi, and would watch and re-watch videos of her activities.  She was so looking forward to the birth of her second great-grandchild in early 2023.

Carol was an amazingly strong woman, and was a shining example of perseverance through tough times and difficult situations. She encouraged and supported all her friends and family with unwavering dedication and commitment. She became a surrogate mother to many of her children and grandchildren's friends and provided a safe haven whenever was needed.  She will be greatly missed.

Carol was active as a Deacon and Wedding Coordinator at the Presbyterian Church in Palatine.

Carol is survived by her children Doug and Lynn (Michael) Frayder; grandchildren Michael, Samantha (Justin Naylor), Jonathan, Morgan and Olivia; great-granddaughter Remi; daughter-in-law Gina McBride (Glazik); brothers Eddie and Jerry; cousin Jack (Norma) Hanley and many nieces, nephews, and very close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Mildred Carrier, and step-mother Marie.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 3:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church of Palatine, 800 E Palatine Road,  Palatine, IL
