It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Edward Parrish, at home in Palatine, IL, on February 23, 2026. He was surrounded by loved ones in the days before his peaceful passing.

Born on September 13, 1950, in New York City, David grew up in New Milford, New Jersey, with his two sisters. He later attended the University of Arkansas, a place that remained close to his heart throughout his life. He was a practice player on the football team, and he carried his school pride with him always.  He was always loyal to his Arkansas Razorbacks, although he later added his wife's favorite NFL team, the Denver Broncos, to his "can't miss" list.

David spent most of his professional life in the food business, working in various companies and roles over the years, culminating in the founding of his own consulting company, The DellsGroup. He believed in hard work, discipline, and showing up every day with purpose. His work ethic defined him. He built a life rooted in responsibility, commitment, and quiet strength — values he passed on to his children.

Beyond his work, David loved to travel and explore new places, both for work and for enjoyment. A perennial favorite was Door County, Wisconsin, although he drove, at various times, through all of the lower 48 contiguous states, and he also traveled internationally.  His last international trip was with his wife, Jill, to visit some of her family in Denmark.

He had a deep appreciation for nonfiction, history, documentaries and learning about the world, always curious and thoughtful about the stories behind people and history.

But his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jill Werts; his daughters, Leslie Smith, Elise Chinn (Michael Chinn), and Stephanie Burroughs; and his beloved granddaughter, Abigail Smith, who brought immeasurable pride and light to his life. He adored his granddaughter, Abbey, and spent time with her as often as possible, watching her grow with a proud smile and a full heart. He shared a deep and steady love with his wife, Jill, built on years of partnership, loyalty, and commitment.

In addition to his wife, daughters and granddaughter, he is also survived by his sisters, Diane Byrne (James Byrne) and Laura O'Brien (Frank O'Brien), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will deeply miss him.

David was predeceased by his mother, Sarah Nancy Parrish (nee Graham).

David was a man of steady presence and quiet devotion. His love was constant. He was endlessly proud of his daughters and admired the strong and lovely women they grew to be.  He was always thrilled to share their accomplishments with anyone and everyone. His pride in them was one of his greatest gifts — a steady reminder that they were capable, strong, and deeply loved. His example — of perseverance, integrity, and commitment — will live on in the lives of his family.

In accordance with his wishes, David will be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor a man who worked hard, loved deeply, and leaves behind a legacy of resilience and dedication.  He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
