Donald Kerstin, born on June 11, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Harry Kerstein and the late Helen (Jagla) Kerstein, passed away at age 92 on May 7, 2024 in Naperville, IL. Don is survived by his daughter, Kari (Martin) Evak, and sons Christopher (Kimberly) Kerstin and Roger (Rebecca) Kerstin; 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Irma (2018), his daughter, Denise Sommer (2020), son, Scott Kerstin (2022) (survived by Paige), brothers Gene, Jerry and Mel and his sister, Camille Konopinski.

He was a faithful parishioner and a resident of Elk Grove Village for 65 years. He spent most of his career as a milkman, driving a semi truck to deliver milk to Chicago stores, later a variety of dairy products. He served in the Army in the Korean War, was involved with the VFW, the garden club, the Elk Grove Spirit Awards Committee, to name a few.

He will be remembered for his love for his family, his love of gardening, his love for a contest (i.e., guessing baby details, growing the tallest sunflowers, guessing how many…) and his great sense of humor. He had a helpful and giving heart, willing to help anyone that asked!

Family and friends can pay their respects at his visitation on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 3:00-8:00 at Grove Memorial Chapel and a funeral mass on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 10:30 at St. Julian Eymard Church, 601 Biesterfield Rd, Elk Grove Village, IL.
