Eric Leland Lipe, 46, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away suddenly at home in Chicago on April 15, 2025. Eric was a deeply loved son to Carol and Walter (Larry) Lipe, and a loving and protective brother to Nicholas and Kayleigh (Flores) Lipe.

Eric had a passion for life's creative sides. A lifelong lover of basketball, he also found joy behind a drum kit, in the rhythm of his music, and in the warm crackle of vinyl records spinning on a turntable. He and his father bonded over growing up playing music together, a connection that deeply shaped his love for sound and expression. He was a devoted collector-not only of vintage PEZ dispensers and vinyl records, but of just about everything that sparked nostalgia or curiosity. He even dreamed of opening his own record shop with his brother-an idea that blended his love of music with his entrepreneurial spirit. He was also an incredibly talented wedding photographer, capturing love stories with honesty, heart, and a distinctive artistic eye. Through his lens, he preserved some of life's most meaningful and beautiful moments-images that will be cherished for generations.

Eric was always taking care of everyone and was deeply protective of those he loved. He looked out for others in ways that made them feel safe, valued, and supported. He was a very kind person who made sure everyone around him was taken care of, often putting the needs of others before his own. Eric will be remembered for his warmth, creativity, and the strength with which he loved and protected those closest to him. His presence will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
