Obituary

CONRAD – Fred Peter, 87, born on January 10, 1935, as Frederick Simon Peters and lifelong resident of Chicago, Il. until his passing on August 30, 2022, was the son of Yvonne Katz of Luxembourg, Gottfried Josepf Peters of Germany and adopted son (1952) of Richard Karl Conrad of Germany.

Although raised in the city, he was always a true Cowboy at heart, being a mere 5'6" he stood 10 feet tall always wearing his cowboy boots and hat, using the terms like "The Duke and I" after his hero John Wayne. He always dreamed of living out west and being a gunslinger in the old days. Back in the mid to late 1950's, in the days of the popular prime time TV Westerns', he became active with cowboy action shooting clubs of the day. He loved competing in quick draw competitions and performing in front of live audiences using blank cartridges in full cowboy dress and enjoyed the notoriety that went along with it.

Fred graduated from Lane Technical High School in 1953 and went on to serve his apprenticeship as a Professional Union Painter and member of Chicago Painters District Council #14, IUPAT, Local Union #275. He raised four boys, Michael Fred (Sheila), Richard Anthony (Beverly), James Alan and Jeffrey William.  He also leaves behind his current wife of 50 years Lucille (Bonczkowski), her children Keith (Kathy) Wojtal, and Paula Masilotti, 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren.

May his final ride take him to greener pastures and higher mountains with a better life beyond.

No service will be scheduled.

As a Patron Life Member of the National Rifle Association, his wholehearted support for the 2 nd Amendment, dedication to firearm safety and respect and the disgust for those that abuse firearms against the innocent, especially young children, in lieu of flowers, cards, gifts, etc., a Tribute donation on his behalf would be truly appreciated.
