Henry Gayheart

August 13, 1953 – September 9, 2022

Henry Gayheart, 69, born on August 13, 1953 in Ashtabula, Ohio was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend who was called home on Friday, September 9th after a long battle with ALS.

Henry was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, cousin, uncle, and friend.  He was not one to boast of his accomplishments and although sometimes quiet and reserved, it did not mean he wasn't observant.  Henry had a passion for the outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing in the wee hours of the morning and hunting in the North Woods with friends and family.  He loved teaching others his passions and taught his sons, brother, nephew, family, and friends about the great outdoors and enjoyed spending time with them and loved learning of their successes.  Henry's other passion was his family, he often found opportunities to be with them and close to them even when work would take him around the world.  Henry was a wonderful father who was with his sons from the moment of birth, for small and big milestones, coaching his sons' little league teams, taking family vacations, and cooking gourmet meals at home with his family during the holidays or just because.  Henry was a self-made man and worked hard and was very successful.  He was also a teacher and mentor and, to some, even their hero, he was one-of-a-kind.  Words could never do justice to the person he was.

Henry is survived by his loving wife Mary Gayheart; his children Henry Evan Gayheart; Trevor (Hazel) Gayheart; sister Alice (Bodo) Zacharek and children David (Amy) Nischik and Cathy Nischik; brother Michael (Jane) Subat and their children Atticus and Peri; Cousins Steve (Laurie) Hamilton and Rita (Randy) Klein.  Along with many cousins, extended family, many life-long friends, and his faithful four-legged best friend and companion, Murray the Pup.

Masses and memorial services will be held in two locations:

Saturday, September 24th at Church of St. Patrick at 15000 W. Wadsworth Rd., Wadsworth, IL Visitation starts at 10:00am, Mass will begin at 10:30am followed by a memorial lunch.

At a later date in November, a service will be held at Most Precious Blood Roman Catholic Church in Queens, New York.

Henry will be laid to rest in November at St. Michael's Cemetery in Queens, New York.
