Herbert Reed, 72, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025 at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Born on October 17, 1952, in Mounds, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Ardie Reed and Georgia Murray.

Herbert was one of 15 children, growing up in a home filled with love, resilience and strong family values. He is survived by his two daughters, Mandy Morris and Annetta (Teena) Maisonet, and a step son Wayne Gifford who will forever cherish him.

For many years, Herbert worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation, where he took great pride in his work and contributed to the infrastructure that served his community. He was known for his dedication, reliability, and the friendships he built along the way.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. He was a grandfather to Tanika Davis and Marcus Lee and a great-grandfather to Asianah Martinez. He will be remembered for his kind spirit, strong work ethic, and the countless memories he created with those who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Herbert was cremated on February 25, 2025, by Elegy Cremation and Memorial Services in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The family appreciates the love and support of friends and family during this time
