Lois Krasne of Lincolnshire, IL

October 17, 1929—December 21, 2022

Lois Krasne passed peacefully in her home with family on December 21, 2022 following a battle with cancer. She was 93. She is survived by her children, Pamela Dixon Krasne, Laurel Krasne and Matthew Krasne; and by her grandchildren, Dennis Latto and his wife, Gabrielle, Jacquelyn Krasne, Eric Latto and Brian Krasne. She was preceded in death by her older brother Marvin Silvern. The matriarch of the extended family, she had many nieces and nephews spread out across the country. She will be deeply missed.

Lois was a trained stenographer and her early jobs were secretarial until she decided to go to college in her mid-40s and obtain a paralegal degree. She worked as a paralegal for the Mayor of Highland Park, where she raised her family with her husband, Seymour Krasne. Later, she would work an administrative/sales job in the computer field.

Lois was a homebody enjoying her wooded lot and lovely townhome in Lincolnshire, IL. During the summers, she would bring her grandchildren to a local neighborhood beach and spent a great deal of time with them creating loving and enduring, and sometimes comical memories. She always had words of wisdom for them.

She loved to cook and bake and was renowned among her circle of friends and family for her delicious meals and baked goods. Up until the very end she was watching cooking shows and cutting out recipes to add to her voluminous collection. Not just a collector, she actually made many of those recipes and grew her own vegetables and herbs with her son so she'd have fresh ingredients.

She loved playing cards but her favorite game was Maj Jongg, a Chinese tile game, which she played with a group of gals for more than 15 years. When she sheltered for four months with her daughter, Laurel, at the beginning of the pandemic, they found a challenging two-person version of Maj and happily passed the time playing, talking and cooking. They played the day before she passed.

Lois was a great animal lover and always had dogs and cats in her life, a trait enthusiastically shared by her daughter, Pam, a retired nurse of whom she was so proud. Lois consistently supported numerous animal shelters and animal welfare organizations.
