Mrs. Vitulli passed away quietly on June 2, 2019 at the age of 96. At the time of her death, Mrs. Vitulli was living in Highland Park, IL with her son, Nicholas Vitulli. Mrs. Vitulli was born on February 13, 1923 in Yonkers, NY. She attended Yonkers public schools through high school. She then attended Long Island University and received a B.A. in Chemistry. She later received her Master's Degree from New York University in Educational Administration and Leadership. Mrs. Vitulli served as a chemist before leaving that career to become an elementary teacher. In 1963, she became the principal of Yonkers Public School #31.
After retiring from education, Mrs. Vitulli became a travel agent and travelled the world. She visited more than 40 countries during her time in the travel industry. Mrs. Vitulli was an active member of the Yonkers Soroptimist International Organization, the American Cancer Society, Sweet Adelines Choir, and the St. Francis of Assisi's Choir in New Jersey.
She is survived by her sons, Mr. Michael (Audrey) Vitulli of Rye, NY, Mr. Nicholas (Mary) Vitulli of Highland Park, IL; her grandchildren, Mrs. Christine (Dave) Levenson, San Carlos, CA, Mrs. Nicole (Jimmy Sr) Ramirez, Lake Villa, IL, Mr. Marc Vitulli, Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. Sandra (Kyle) Sondgeroth, Champaign, IL; and her great-grandchildren, Violet and Julian Levenson, Mary Jade Ramirez, and Bennett Sondgeroth and her many nieces and nephews and friends. She was married and preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Michael Vitulli, Sr. They were married for 52 years. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Mr. Ralph Carnicelli and her sister, Mrs. Peggy Liberati.
Mrs. Vitulli's Mass of Christian Burial took place at St. Patrick Church, Wadsworth, IL on June 12, 2019. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi, Brant Beach, Long Beach Island, NJ on September 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at St. Francis of Assisi at 10:00 a.m. Following Mass, Mrs. Vitulli's place of interment will be at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Innocents Garden, Beach Haven, NJ, service at 1:00 p.m.
As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, Marcella was loved by many. In lieu of flowers, she would have appreciated a donation to a charity of your choice, the American Cancer Society, or St. Patrick School, 15020 W. Wadsworth Rd, Wadsworth, IL 60083. May she rest in peace.
