Richard M. Geerling (Dick to his friends and Butch to his family) was born 12/17/1944 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Vera (Cole) and Richard Geerling.  He grew up in Belding, Michigan alongside sister Margaret (John Trick) and brother Tom (Pat Whalen), who both predeceased him.  He spent summers at Montcalm Lake where he developed his love for fishing.  In 1970 he married Charlee Zarimba and they were one month short of their 53rd anniversary when he passed.  After getting married they made their home in Rockford, Michigan until 1984 when a job transfer with Bally Midwest took them to the Chicago suburb of Mt Prospect.  Their daughter Elizabeth Ann (Liz) was born in 1976 and son Richard M. III (Rick) in 1983.   Dick loved to travel, especially Viking river cruises,  and spent 10 winters in Florida away from Midwest winters, but mostly loved spending time with his family.  Dick passed peacefully on 9/28/2023 and will be remembered as a lover of peanut butter, puttering in the garage, yelling at politicians on the internet and mischief of all sorts.
