Robert “Bob” John Henning, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away at his home in Prospect Heights, Illinois, on September 1, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on November 16, 1946, in Evanston, Illinois, to the late John and Agnes Henning.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Henning, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband and an exemplary, loving father to his three daughters. His family was the center of his world, and he valued, loved, and cherished each and every one of them deeply.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeannie (Gary) Stanuch, Wendie (Jerry) Fuller, and Elizabeth Henning; his grandchildren, Corinne, Jake, Jeremy, Hannah, Karl, Matthew, Nathan, Bailey, Geoffrey, and Grace; and his great-grandchildren, Angela and Penelope. He is also survived by his brother, Ed (Linda) Henning; his sisters, Anne (Lee) Flanagan and Teri Henning; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who loved him dearly.

Bob was one of seven siblings and was proud to be part of a large, loving family. He cherished the special bond he had with each and every one of them. He was also a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He was a co-owner of Henning Brothers Lock & Key in Palatine and retired after many years of dedication to the business.

Outside of work, Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, poker games with the guys, board games, and card games. And if there was a game to be played, Bob certainly wanted to win—he took great pride in being the champion. His competitive spirit was always accompanied by his wonderful sense of humor.

Bob had a way of making people laugh with his silly faces, playful sarcasm, and as of late, his unforgettable “67”, “ that’s what she said”, “my bad”, and “easy breezy” references. His humor brought joy to those around him and created countless memories that his family will treasure forever.

Most of all, Bob will be remembered for the love he gave so freely. His hugs embraced you with all the love he had, making you feel safe, loved, and cared for. He was a devoted husband, the best father his three daughters could have asked for, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather.

Bob leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, memories, and family traditions. He will be deeply missed by so many, but his love, humor, and spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
