Roland David "Duke" Carlsen, 87 of Huntley beloved husband of Claudia passed away on March 27, 2024. He was born to Elwing and Ruth Carlsen in Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1936. He was raised in Chicago and Round Lake Illinois. Roland served in the Army from 1954 to 1958. Duke married his wife Claudia (Regnell) Carlsen on May 19, 1961. Together they raised four children in Hoffman Estates.
Roland retired in 1993 from Illinois Bell as a PBX installer after 38 years of service. During his 35 years of retirement Duke and Claudia moved to Sun City where they traveled and had an active life playing sports with friends and just enjoying life. Especially with their "Special Birthday Friends". Duke was an avid Cubs and Bears Fan. He loved life, especially with his family. He loved reminiscing about special "Adventures" in their lives and treasured the times with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He had a special way to make them laugh. He loved playing his made-up game "In and Out of Trouble."
Roland is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Claudia and his children Shari (Carlsen) & TJ Imberger, Steve & Melissa Carlsen, David & Toni Carlsen and Debra (Carlsen) & John Bockrath. His grandchildren Kevin Carlsen, Jessica (Imberger) Burke, Sean Carlsen, Braven Carlsen, Chris Bockrath, Eric Bockrath, Shannon Carlsen, Legend Carlsen, Valor Carlsen and Amber Bockrath. Four great grandchildren Will Livingston, Athena Burke, Knox Carlsen and Blake Bockrath. His Sister Carole (Carlsen)& Biff Nurnberg.
