Scott Thomas Gehrke passed away on June 2, 2025, in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Scott was born on December 20, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, to Rosetta "Rose" Gehrke and Harold Gehrke. He was raised in Antioch, Illinois, where he spent most of his life and built many lasting friendships and cherished memories.

On February 29, 2020, Scott married the love of his life, Anairis R. Matias-Gehrke. In 2022, they made their home in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

A gifted athlete, Scott played football throughout his childhood and collegiate years. He proudly played for the Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) Falcons, and his 2006–2007 team was later inducted into the William C. Ackmann Memorial Athletic Hall of Fame.

Scott dedicated his career to serving his country as a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer, a position he held from January 2007 until his passing.

Among Scott's greatest passions was fishing. He enjoyed participating in numerous fishing tournaments alongside his close friend Brian Fiore. He was also a devoted Chicago Bears fan and loved watching games with his friends Ken Barth and Ken Sr. Above all else, Scott treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.

Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anairis Matias-Gehrke; his stepchildren, Bianca and Diego Ortiz-Matias; his sister, Cindy (John) Bartlett; his in-laws, Gilberto Matias Carmona ("Pops"), Iris M. Velez, Gigita, Hector Jose, and Berto; his college football teammates; and his many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Buzz Gehrke; his best friend, Nick; and his beloved dog and loyal companion, Bentley.

Scott's legacy is one of loyalty, kindness, friendship, and service. In his honor, please remember to be kind to one another, cherish the people you love, and enjoy life's simple moments, for those are often the most meaningful.
