Sue Lee was a generous, loving, and courageous mother, grandmother, and wife who lived for 92 years. She witnessed God's goodness and miracles through wars, traumas, huge societal upheavals and great geographic moves. Career-wise, she was a beloved teacher, nurse, and later on, a restaurateur. Sue loved people, animals, nature, food, and celebrations. She sang beautifully, and played mahjong like a pro.

In 1949, during the Communist and Nationalist conflict, Sue fled China to Taiwan as a teenager. She got married there and adopted her oldest daughter, Grace, in 1960. As a small family, they moved to the U.S. and became strangers in a foreign land in 1969. Later, Sue married David Lee, and they adopted Jessica in 1983. David, who predeceased Sue, was a devoted husband for 50 years.

Sue and David, a couple who were once new arrivals to the country themselves, had a passion for helping others in a similar position. Over decades, they sponsored many young people from China, primarily students, by providing emotional, practical and financial support. They helped them find and apply to schools, ease the culture shock, and often provided food and shelter. Sue and David dedicated their time and energy to assisting these young people also in finding jobs, learning to drive, and improving their English language skills. They selflessly shared whatever they had to ensure the success of those they sponsored.

An avid animal lover, Sue raised dogs, cats, birds, fish, and even ducks and chickens at one point.  She especially loved to see people happy, and was great at matchmaking! Her pleasures were simple and she valued the priceless things in life, like sharing 'yummy' (one of her favorite words) foods, singing (way before karaoke became popular), joking and laughing, shopping at thrifts, and watching Wheel of Fortune and the Bachelor. She was open and direct and was disarmingly honest with her opinion and wit. You knew it if she didn't like something you cooked, bought, or made, so you also always knew her compliments were well-deserved. Sue had a wonderful sense of humor and recently said, half jokingly, that she was ready to find love again and wanted to be a contestant on the Golden Bachelor because, after all, she had been a widow for over two years. She was a real JOY!

Sue's remains will be cremated and then buried alongside her beloved husband, David's.

Sue is survived by her two daughters, Grace (son-in-law, John) and Jessica (son-in-law, William), and three grandchildren Natalie, Erica, and Tiffany. Currently, there are no plans for visitation or funeral services. However, an informal celebration of life may be scheduled at a later time.

As she loved to help people and animals, donations to charities dedicated to bettering peoples' lives, and for protecting animals would be welcome.
