Sue E Guilfoil McArthur

July 25, 1950 - September 12,2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sue Ellen McArthur (nee Guilfoil) on September 12, 2023, following a long and valiant battle with lung cancer.

Sue was one of eight children and born the elder of identical twins to the late Dwight D Guilfoil and Margaret E Guilfoil (nee Cullerton).  Her twin, Joyce Marie, passed in 1995, after battling breast cancer, at the age of 45, leaving Sue as the "twin-less twin".

Sue married the late Douglas C McArthur in 1970, just prior to his deployment to Vietnam.  They were blessed with 2 children, James Douglas McArthur and Heather Leigh McArthur. Sadly, he passed in 1992.

Prior to Sue's career with United Airlines in a worldwide capacity, she was a licensed beautician.  She always offered love and compassion, guidance and comfort, and a never ending sense of humor to so many

She leaves behind her son James D McArthur; her daughter Heather L McArthur; son-in-law Kevin Ahmer; stepson Kevin Ossler; sister Judith Poole; brothers Michael S Guilfoil and Dwight D Guilfoil; grandchildren Kayla Cupal Lamberti, Macie Ahmer, Ryan Ahmer, Kaden Ossler, Ashley Ossler and many other family, friends, and loved ones.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Joyce Beauchamp and Mary Lou Barnes; brothers Wiliam E Guilfoil and Thomas P Guilfoil.

Arrangements are as follows:  Friday, September 22, 2023, with visitation at 10:30 a.m., funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Wayside Parish, 434 W Park St, Arlington Heights, IL 60005.  Immediately following mass, the graveside ceremony will take place at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
