Major Sylvia Brunhilde Jonigkeit, 61, of Mt. Prospect, IL, died on February 22, 2025, from a brain hemorrhage. She was born October 1, 1963, at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago to Heinz and Brunhilde Jonigkeit (Kremser). She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Renee Witt (Dan), her nephew, Nathan Witt, and by her close friend and fellow veteran, Captain Eric Grote.

Sylvia is a veteran from the U.S. Air Force having served in Desert Storm and Operation Provide Comfort, achieving the rank of Major, having graduated from the nursing program at Northern Illinois University.
