William J Jacobson II, dedicated husband, devoted father, loving brother, and adoring grandfather passed away in his sleep at his home on Tuesday June 16, 2022, at the age of 81.

Bill or Billy as he was known to most was born on August 18, 1940, in New Rochelle, NY to Lester and Helen Jacobson. He graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1959 and went on to graduate from Bucknell University.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lester and Helen, older brother, Mark N Jacobson (Marilyn) and survived by his younger brother Lester E Jacobson (Ronna) who was present during the last days of his life.

Bill met and married Roberta Solovy Jacobson, on July 11, 1965, and later had one daughter Meredith Light Jacobson Weigman.

He had a 28-year career at Allstate Insurance Company, until he retired at the early age of 52 years old. Bill spent the rest of his days doing what he loved best; traveling, learning to play piano, acrylic painting, and being around family. However, what he loved best of all from being retired, was doing much of "nothing".

Bill and Bobbie loved to travel and did it as often as they were able. Seeing many countries, cities, and states in their 56 years of marriage was quite a testament to their time together. He also, loved to share his zest for traveling with his daughter, and grandchildren.

Having lived in Illinois most of their marriage, they did move briefly to SE Wisconsin to a home on a small lake where he was very happy. Bill and Bobbie spent much of this time helping care for their grandchildren. Ultimately, they moved back to Illinois where they settled in nicely in the same neighborhood where they had once lived and raised their daughter.

Bill was an avid reader, lover of Broadway musical theatre (especially Cole Porter) and collector of watches and pens. Bill loved locomotives, automobiles, and planes with the same passion that he had for making use of them to travel. He had a penchant for poetry, taught current events, and was a rare renaissance man.

Bill was a loving man who cared deeply for his family. He had a dry sense of humor and a big heart. Bill always had a special place in his heart for his daughter and her husband, Rob Weigman, who not only took in her two children at a young age, but then proceeded to adopt them. Bill had a great admiration for the man who would become a big part of his small, precious family.

Fortunately, his two grandchildren remained a big presence throughout his life. During his last two months, his 25-year-old grandson Sebastian became his full-time primary caregiver. He was able to peacefully pass in his sleep at home, as he wished to be, surrounded by Sebastian, his eldest grandchild, Haley Weigman, daughter, Meredith Jacobson Weigman and wife, Roberta Solovy Jacobson.
